Over the years, I have learned how to pick a running shoe that I will not get disappointed with. There are three main factors I look for when I am buying new pairs of 👟
✅Wide toe-box
✅Made for high-arch feet
✅Soft with good amount of cushioning support
Lately, I have been running primarily with my Saucony Triumph 18 and it withheld around 4700 kms. Majority of this distance if not all is road running but I was very pleased with how this shoe held up over time. It has some holes that makes my shoe look even cooler because all those mileage and tear is partly representation of my running journey.
People who are outside of running community, probably outside of Nike, Adidas and ASICS never heard brand names like Saucony (saw·kuh·nee | сокуни). I purchased and ran many happy kilometers with multiple Saucony shoes (Triumph, two pairs of Rides) my favorite so far being Triumph 18 and now this Guide 5.
Regular price for Guide 15 is $140. I found a good discount (-$35) and plus had coupon (-$56) from previous purchase and with all discounts it came to $49 USD which is amazing price for such shoe. Plus $30 USD for US to Tajikistan delivery, it cost me $80 or roughly 820 TJS.
Before I buy any running shoe, I go to my trusted source https://runrepeat.com to check Pros and Cons of the shoe and see specifications. Right in the Pro section I had two check marks ✅Rolls smoothly and ✅Roomy toe box and for Cons no mention of high arch. So I was good to go.
Yesterday, I ran 25km in this shiny new shoes and my first experience is they are nice. They are not as soft as I like them. Maybe because I have been running a lot with Triumph 18 and my feet got used to the softness of the worn-out shoe, but Guide 15 didn't feel rigid. The first 5km really nice, comfy feeling. Now chafing on the back of the feet (my Ultraboost 21 gives me really bad chaffing 😬). Last but not least, I like to blue ocean color.
Of course, running 25km with one run is very early to give any definitive conclusion about this shoe. There are many miles to run ahead for this shoe and I look forward for comfy ride with them. For now, my first impressions of this shoe is 8/10 because it's not very rigid and has lots of room for toes. If you run a lot, you know shoes can be ruthless because they give you toe bruises that you will remember for long time. 😂
I will revisit my experience after a month or so, if these don't give me bad experience, like my Ultraboost 21 gave. My love is with my Ultraboost 20 forever though ♥
What began as nothing more than a spark of a thought has now taken shape before us, alive and undeniable. We didn’t just imagine it, we lived it, we felt it, and we proved that a simple idea can become something powerful when we dare to believe in it. This journey reminds me that every dream starts quietly, almost invisibly, yet with courage, effort, and heart, it grows into something that touches our lives and inspires us to keep reaching for more.
At the top of the Double Pass (northern), my brother Firuz asked me about our estimated plan of when we will be reaching the finish. Based on the information we had, I said: “Best plan is we reach by 7 PM, given or taken plus/minus 1 hour.” Little I knew how things could go wrong so fast.
